The 996 Turbo was the first water-cooled Porsche Turbo and it was an  instant hit for the German car-maker. When it was introduced, it  suddenly made its competition look outdated. Its all-wheel-drive system  and the mix of performance and comfort it added, made it one of the best  choices on the market, and new buyers didn’t care too much about the  fact that it didn’t feature an air-cooled engine. It was faster than  most of its competitors, and it was almost as comfortable as a British GT car.

From the outside, the front bumper attracted views due to its large  three air-intakes needed to cool the radiators. On its sides, another  pair of air-intakes needed to feed the big turbochargers were installed  in front of the rear wheels. The wide rear fenders looked muscular. A  fixed-wing was added on top of the engine lid.

I've had this car for a couple of years now.  It's a great car that still turns heads and is a ton of fun to drive.  It's a very visceral experience as this car is analog and still perfectly capable of performing as a super-car with sub 3.8 sec 0-60 and a top speed of 189 mph.

It has very nice styling with GT2 bumpers and rear wing.  Black Porsche 18" twist wheels on Z rated tires.  Headlights and glass still in excellent condition.  Interior is closer to a 7/10, but still respectable for certain.  The car has a lowered stance, so it has the usual scuffs on the current front spoiler and side skirts.  But unless you raise the car, this is par for the course in my opinion. Parts are readily available and I consider them a maintenance item for owning a car with this stance.

It is getting to be higher mileage (135 km at the moment), and of course is not perfect due to it's age, so I consider this car to be a "driver" and drive it quite a bit in the summer and enjoy it.  The car is still mechanically sound and nothing is wrong with it.

A/C and heat works very well still, but these cars all eventually need the blend door recovered.

If your keep up on basic maintenance, this car will treat you very well.  The car does not use oil or coolant and has no leaks.

In summary, if you're looking for a fun car to drive and enjoy, not just park and stare at because it's to expensive to repair, depreciate or too pristine to even enjoy, this is the car for you.  A beautiful classic Porsche that still performs at the highest levels and is easy to repair when compared to the more recent 911s.
